Diego Velazquez

BIOGRAPHY.

Velazquez was born in Sevilla in 1599 and he died in Madrid making one of his works. It was the most important spanish baroque painter, he painted all kinds of genres: religious, mythological, pictures, historical, etc.
Diego Velazquez learned in Sevilla, in the workshop of Pacheco. When he was a teenager, he painted some religious works (La inmaculada concepción, La Adoración de los Reyes
 Magos)
In Italy he met the old paint and contemporany, there were influences they did evolve to a more personal style.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PICTURE

In the picture shows a historical event in Breda (Holand) in 1625, when de sparniards defeated the dutch and they took them to the city.
In the scene can be seen as, paisage where there are still remnants of battles. Sparniards are on the right and the Dutch on the left. The two groups have differents types of clothing and differents weapons.

OPINION

This picture reminds me of the war, a fight between two countries fighting for something, it seems to end up doing a deal. The contrast of landscape with people, I like a lot.
